Weylandts Takes On Sandton Mall

November 17, 2017

I have literally been at the edge of my seat patiently waiting to share the breathtakingly beautiful interior of Weylandts’ first ever concept store! The store was designed by the Weylandts Spaces interior design department under the guidance of Chris Weylandt, and styled by director Kim Smith and the Visual Merchandising team.

We have been working tiresomely to complete this store, and looking at how it has turned out the hard work and dedication of the talented team was well worth it. The store is located in non-other than Johannesburg’s Sandton City Mall, so if you want to experience this space for yourself then head over there this weekend. Believe me you will leave more inspired than ever!

About the Concept:

The concept of the store is based on the luxury of a hotel living. Weylandts signature masculine style was enhanced by the moody dark walls and finishes. The space is infused with the glam and sophistication of a 5-star hotel.

“The vision of the store was to create a customer experience that triggers all 5 senses, transporting the visitor to another world.” Chris Weylandt.

Sight, touch and sound was easy to achieve, smell and taste was introduced by serving champagne to clients as well as installing the Weylandts signature scent. From the concierge desk to the kitchen island, drama and luxury was the end goal. Materials such as brass, marble, mild steel and Weylandts signature ebony stained oak merged together effortlessly to create a mind-blowing shopping experience.

The layout of the store was inspired by the journey through a hotel, from the concierge desk, to the front desk, living/waiting area, dining area, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and courtyard. In my opinion it is a success to boast about!

“The interior was designed for the product, but more importantly, to place the product within a space that creates a journey of it’s own.” says interior designer Eloise Thompson.

All the fittings and fixtures were custom made with the concept in mind. No shortcuts taken to achieve a store that not only oozes sophistication but also catapults you to another dimension.

These images were released only yesterday, so you are the first to witness the beauty of this design masterpiece. But hey, enough chit chat, let’s move on to the photo’s!

The Dining Area – the luggage trolley were designed in an over-sized proportion in order to house HW stories which can be moved around the store when needed. Such a clever idea that ties in beautifully with the concept don’t you think?

The Kitchen Area – this monolithic kitchen island is both functional and eye catching. The 3 levels allows for 3 different HW stories to be displayed. Made up of mild steel, brass, concrete and ebony oak.
